Surface Drainage

Local Drainage Nationwide

Water is the main reason tarmac fails. When rain cannot get off a car park or road, it sits in bays and dips, soaks into the base and breaks the surface up the first time it freezes. Many potholes start life as a drainage problem, and patching them without dealing with the water only buys time.

SN Enterprises Ltd plans and installs surface water drainage for car parks, private roads, yards and hardstandings across the Midlands: gullies and channel drains to collect run-off, soakaways where there is no drain to connect to, and regraded falls so the surface sheds water towards them.

Below ground, the team clears blocked drains, repairs and relays damaged runs, relines cracked pipes without digging them up, and carries out CCTV surveys to find faults before any excavation starts. Where a drain has to be dug out, the disturbed area is reinstated to the standard it was found in.

Why choose us

Why clients call SN Enterprises for drainage

  • Surfacing and drainage together

Because the same team lays the tarmac and the drains, falls and gullies are planned together, so the new surface sends water where it should go.

  • Find it before digging

CCTV surveys show the fault before any excavation, which avoids opening up a car park or yard in the wrong place.

  • Reinstated as found

Excavated areas are made good to match the surrounding surface, and the site is left tidy rather than patched and muddy.

  • Approved for commercial sites

£10 million public liability insurance and SafeContractor Gold accreditation let commercial sites and managing agents approve the work quickly.

  • Twenty years on site

More than 20 years in surfacing and groundwork, with all work guaranteed and a DBS-checked team you can let onto sensitive sites such as schools.

How the job runs

How we sort out a drainage problem

  • 1

    Step 01

    Investigate the cause

We look at where water collects, lift gully covers and manholes, and use a CCTV survey where needed to see the condition of the pipes underground.

  • 2

    Step 02

    Plan the fix

You get a written quote explaining the cause and the options, such as jetting, relining, new gullies or regraded falls, and how disruption will be managed.

  • 3

    Step 03

    Carry out works

Drains are cleared, repaired or installed, surfaces are regraded if needed, and any area we dig is backfilled and reinstated to match its surroundings.

  • 4

    Step 04

    Test and hand over

Water is run through the system to confirm it flows, you see the result, and a maintenance visit schedule can be set up to keep it clear.

Pricing

What affects the cost of drainage work

Drainage prices depend on what the investigation finds, which is why we look before quoting for anything beyond simple clearance.

Get a fixed written quote
  • 01

    Cause of the problem

A blockage cleared by jetting costs far less than a collapsed pipe that has to be dug out and relaid in a new trench.

  • 02

    Depth and access

Deeper drains, runs under buildings or busy surfaces, and restricted access for equipment all take more time and effort to reach.

  • 03

    Relining or excavation

Relining avoids digging up a sound surface but suits only certain faults; replacement is needed where a pipe has collapsed or lost its alignment.

  • 04

    Surface reinstatement

Cutting through tarmac or concrete to reach a drain means reinstating it afterwards, and the area and material involved affect the price.

FAQs

Drainage questions

Do we need a soakaway or a connection to the drain?

It depends on the ground and what is nearby. Where there is a surface water sewer or an existing drain with capacity, connecting new gullies to it is usually simplest. Where there is not, a soakaway lets water disperse into the ground, but it only works in soil that drains well, so ground conditions are checked before one is recommended.

What is a CCTV drain survey?

A small camera is passed through the drain to record the inside of the pipe. It shows cracks, root ingress, displaced joints, collapses and build-up of silt or fat, and pinpoints where they are. That tells you whether jetting, relining or excavation is the right fix, and stops money being spent digging up the wrong section.

What is drain relining?

Relining repairs a damaged pipe from the inside. A resin-soaked liner is fed into the pipe and cured in place, forming a new pipe within the old one. It suits cracked pipes, leaking joints and root damage, and avoids excavating the surface above, which matters under car parks and yards. A pipe that has collapsed or sagged needs replacing instead.

Can you clear a blocked drain on a commercial site?

Yes. Most blockages are cleared with high-pressure jetting, which scours out silt, grease and debris. If a drain keeps blocking, a CCTV survey usually shows why, such as a damaged section or roots getting in. On busy sites the work is fitted around your trading or operating hours, and the area is kept safe while covers are lifted.

Do you offer drainage maintenance contracts?

Yes. Regular gully emptying, jetting and inspections keep a car park or yard draining and catch problems before they flood the surface or damage the base. The right frequency depends on your site, for example how many trees overhang it or how much silt the traffic brings in, and a schedule is agreed with you after the first visit.
